Welcome to Madoc Yacht Club

From our Commodore...Sheena Birchcommodore

We are now at the start of another sailing season and there is a great deal of activity in the harbour, as boat-owning members prepare for what they hope will be a better summer than last year’s. We in the Clubhouse are busy too, organising sailing and social events and making arrangements for the Club’s annual Regatta in August.

Despite the doom and gloom which confronts us every day in the media, we are fortunate that our pontoon berths are all filled, the bar is busy at weekends and members are making regular use of the restaurant, with breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday mornings being particularly popular.

Madoc Yacht Club is known throughout North Wales as a friendly club and we welcome visiting yachtsmen, particularly those who have crossed the unpredictable Irish Sea to reach us. For many years the Club has had a strong friendship with members of Wicklow Sailing Club and we arrange two Club races from Porthmadog to Wicklow each year, as well as enjoying regular visits from our Irish friends.

This is a beautiful part of Wales. The weather may be uncertain but we have spectacular scenery, particularly when approaching by sea and, as well as enjoying our excellent facilities, visitors can be assured of a warm and welcoming atmosphere in the Clubhouse.
