About us

The  Madoc Yacht Club was founded in 1970 by a group of enthusiastic yachtsmen keen to share their experiences in a convivial social environment. A lease was obtained on the old Harbourmaster's office and Seaman's mission. After a good deal of hard work by members, the building was converted to a comfortable clubhouse. Many years later the club was able to acquire the freehold of the property and by progressive investment and development we have the superb facilities you see today

Over the years, club members have been involved in extensive annual cruising and racing with a full programme including two races to Ireland.

The Club is twinned with the Wicklow Sailing Club and the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club.

In 2001 a Celtic Longboat was purchased with donations from generous members and a sea rowing section was formed. The following year a second boat was obtained with a Sports Council grant. This section has been a great success with many achievements including the 2002 Celtic Challenge (an Irish Sea crossing), participation in the 22 mile London Great River Race for the last 5 years, several 14 mile Cleddau races along with the Menai Strait races and many Longboat league races.

In May 2006 a 25 boat berth pontoon scheme was installed , suitable for bilge or lift keel yachts up to 12 metres in length. This was achieved with the aid of Objective 1 ERDF 42% grant.

The Club is always keen to welcome new members and visitors, so why not pay us a visit?
